Withdrawal Sleeve (AH Sleeve): The withdrawal sleeve is a cylindrical sleeve with a tapered bore on its inner surface. The outer surface may be cylindrical or have a slight taper. The inner tapered bore of the sleeve matches the taper of the shaft. Unlike the adapter sleeve, the withdrawal sleeve is typically used for removal rather than installation.

Spherical Roller Bearing: The spherical roller bearing is designed with a tapered bore to match the taper of the withdrawal sleeve. The bearing can be mounted directly onto the withdrawal sleeve.

Mounting: To mount the bearing on the shaft, the withdrawal sleeve is slid onto the tapered shaft. The bearing is then mounted onto the tapered portion of the sleeve. The sleeve may have a nut or other means of securing it onto the shaft.

Locknut and Lockwasher: Similar to the adapter sleeve configuration, a locknut, sometimes accompanied by a lockwasher, may be used to secure the withdrawal sleeve onto the shaft. This ensures that the sleeve remains firmly attached during operation.

Withdrawal: When it comes time to remove the bearing, the locknut is loosened, and the withdrawal sleeve is slid back along the shaft, creating space between the bearing and the sleeve. This allows the bearing to be easily removed from the shaft without causing damage.

Clearance Adjustment: Similar to the adapter sleeve configuration, the use of a withdrawal sleeve allows for easy adjustment of the bearing’s radial internal clearance. The bearing can be moved along the tapered surface of the sleeve to adjust the clearance.

Lubrication and Sealing: Spherical roller bearings with withdrawal sleeves may have provisions for proper lubrication, including lubrication holes and grooves. Seals or shields may also be incorporated to protect the bearing from contaminants and retain lubrication.
